Dr. Carranza is an orthopedic surgeon, Fellowship trained in Sports Medicine, Shoulder, Elbow and Knee Surgery, officially accredited and certified by the University of Montreal, Canada; and by the College of Physicians of Québec, which awards him a Canadian medical licence for his training. He then later completed a second Fellowship in Sports Traumatology and Knee Surgery, by been elected by the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy(ESSKA) to complete it at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in association with the University of Bologna, Italy.

He has extensive experience on the treatment of complex lesions of the shoulder, rotator cuff repair surgery, instability, proximal or distal biceps lesions, calcifying tendinitis and on the complex lesions of the knee, cruciate ligaments reconstruction, meniscal repair, cartilage resurfacing techniques like microfractures or mosaicplasty and osteochondritis dissecans. Also tennis or golfer´s elbow as well as cartilage lesions can be treated. He uses the latest available technology of multiple companies like coblation technology Arthrocare(Austin, TX), arthroscopic anchors Arthrex(Naples, FL) and of Linvatec(Largo, FL), endobuttons of Arthrex(Naples, FL), and of Smith & Nephew(Andover, MA) to achieve the best possible result with the rigorous specifications of his North American and European training. He is member of the prestigious AANA(Arthroscopy Association of North America), AAOS(American Academy oOrthopaedic Surgeons), COA(Canadian Orthopaedic Association), and of the ICRS(International Cartilage Repair Society). Currently he is a reviewer of scientific articles for the Journal of Arthroscopy(www.arthroscopyjournal.org). Dr. Carranza besides his native Spanish, speaks English and French.
